Cheryl was born in Dallas, spent summers in the West Texas town of Ballinger, and did a lot of traveling in between. She has been happily married for 13 years, is a mother of three boys, two still in their teen years. (Do the math: she is the only woman in a house full of men.) Cheryl spent her younger years raising the family but her mature years pursuing another life passion. At 32, she did what many people fear with envy. She returned to college.
Cheryl is proof that it can be done. She home schools her youngest son, works full time at Baylor Research Institute, a graduate study from University of North Texas and is working towards her doctorate. The secret to her success? She actually schedules time with her family and herself. Cooking for the family is not a task but a joy. She takes trips with her husband. She takes trips with her family. If waning in self-respect she turns to the other “lady” of the house – Lady J, the black and white Shih Tzu. Lady J makes sure everyone in the house knows she is to be pampered.
Cheryl is not only active with her family, she is also active within the community. She serves as the Community Chairperson of her sorority in which she works with others to teach leadership skills, service, and provide resources to remove barriers and inequalities so that all people develop and work to their fullest potential. She dedicates time and gives back to the community by doing presentations on issues prevalent in the community (drugs, teen violence, abuse, low self-esteem, suicide, teen pregnancy, etc…).
Cheryl specializes in chemical dependency, eating disorders, trichotillomania. She also enjoys working with a number of other issues including depression, self-esteem, transition, family issues, spiritual issues, and co-dependency. Cheryl works with adolescents, adults, families, couples and groups.
Cheryl holds membership with the American Counseling Association, Addiction Professional Resource Alliance and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
In her spare time Cheryl loves to exercise, serve in the community, and takes the time to realize and appreciate all that she has and will experience.
Cheryl works in our Dallas office and charges $85 for a 50-minute session
