Wouldn’t it be helpful if children came with a manual?!
Or a starter kit, at least? Wouldn’t it be lovely if you always knew what to do – or better yet, THEY always knew what to do so you didn’t have to?
The inevitable stresses of life make an already difficult job impossible sometimes. Regular life ruins our fantasies and impacts our children and our parenting. As a parent or guardian of a child, do you ever think or feel you:
- Are not bonding with your child?
- Don’t know how to deal with your child?
- Don’t know how to communicate with your child?
- Don’t know what you’re doing and have lost your control as the parent?
- Are annoyed with the child?
- Don’t know what to do anymore?
- Have a child who will do anything for your attention?
- Are not giving your child the emotional care and love they need?
Play therapy and Child-Parent Relationship Training (filial therapy) can help!
What is Play Therapy?
Play therapy helps children address and resolve their problems through the natural medium of play. It builds on the natural way that children learn about themselves and their relationships in the world. Play therapy also provides a safe psychological distance from a children’s problems and allows expression of thoughts and feelings appropriate to their development. Through play therapy, children learn to communicate with others, express feelings, self-regulate their behavior, develop problem-solving skills, and learn a variety of ways of relating to others.
What is Child-Parent Relationship Training (filial therapy)?
Filial Therapy is a unique approach that trains parents to be therapeutic agents for their children. Parents also learn effective limit-setting skills to help regain their control as the parent. In filial therapy, parents can learn how to create a nonjudgmental, understanding, and accepting, environment that enhances the parent-child relationship, facilitating personal growth and change for both the child and parent.
Here at LifeWorks, we can help you gain control as the parent, enhance the relationship you have with your child, and help your children understand their world.
