Get to know Sara

Sara Graham specializes in working with children, adolescents and young adults who are seeking counseling for issues with anxiety, depression, educational and emerging career issues, loneliness, OCD, phobias, and mindfulness. She also appreciates being able to walk alongside teens and children whose parents may be going through a separation or divorce, and supporting them during a difficult time.

Style and Approach

Sara’s therapeutic approach is largely influenced by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy; however, she strongly believes that the client-therapist relationship is the foundation of a successful therapeutic experience. A considerable amount of Sara’s background has been mentoring, teaching, or advising, and she is ready to help you or your loved ones along the journey to a healthier mind and life.

Sara is a Texas native who grew up in the suburbs of North Dallas. Besides a brief 4 years away to West Texas, Sara calls DFW home, especially with several family members living nearby. Although she enjoyed the topic of psychology when she attended college, therapy was not the first thing she considered when deciding on a career. However, after transferring to Abilene Christian University, Sara truly fell in love with psychology and with people. After a brief break from school to get married to her husband, she returned to her education and training in professional counseling. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Abilene Christian University and received her Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Amberton University.

Throughout the years, Sara has continued to have a passion for children, teens, and young adults, and has experience mentoring young girls. Sara initially started her journey working and volunteering with the children’s group at her local church, which afforded her many opportunities, including being a children’s ministry intern in her early college years, and volunteering as a life group and Bible study leader. She has also worked as a Big Sister for a local para ministry organization that mentors middle school to high school young women.

During her pre-teens, Sara suffered a loss which caused her to seek counseling, and she has continued to marvel at and attribute gratitude to that experience, for it has helped her become who she is today. Due to this experience, Sara has a deep desire to help others – specifically teens and young adults – to feel that they are not alone, and to know that help is available.

Fun Facts

While Sara has a deep love for others and the mind, another great love of hers is dance, as well as the arts in general. She has previously been a dance instructor and danced professionally at the collegiate level. On occasion you will find her taking a contemporary, jazz, or ballet class down in Dallas. At present, Sara resides with her husband and their dog Lacy in the North Dallas area.
