Melanie Wells founded The LifeWorks Group in the spring of 1999, to offer clients a fresh, innovative approach to life’s inevitable difficulties.

It was the flowery couch that did it. After years of slogging it out as a solo practitioner (including an unfortunate shared space stint with that sad, flowery blue couch), numbed by the monotony and ineffectiveness of practicing without collaborative input, Melanie decided to re-think her entire approach to therapy. She rented some space, recruited some clinicians who valued creativity, collaboration and client care, and we were off and running! We haven’t looked back since. And we’re still brimming with ideas we’re not afraid to use.
Since those early days, when all we had were lots of ideas, a tiny rented space on Lovers Lane, a few pleather chairs and a broken copier, LifeWorks has grown into a nationally known counseling and training facility. We’ve helped tens of thousands of families unlock stuck ways of thinking, feeling and being and trained hundreds of interns to help their clients do the same.
Our clients enjoy groovy, homey offices in both Dallas & Fort Worth, new magazines, terrific waiting room music, and plenty of free Dr. Pepper (natch).
