Ly Tran, MABC, LPCI
Cultural Specialist
Ly (pronounced "Lee") was born in Houston 2 years after his parents left Vietnam during the war in 1975. Growing up in an immigrant household while his family struggled and learned to adjust to life in America, Ly developed a heightened awareness of how a person's family and culture can affect his life. After graduating college from Trinity University with a Computer Science and Business degree, Ly spent a few years as a technical consultant traveling the country and trying to gain a better understanding of what life was like for professionals in corporate America.
Two years ago Ly returned to school to attend Dallas Theological Seminary in hopes of finding ways to serve God and to invest his life in the lives of others. He will be graduating in August of 2007 with a Masters in Biblical Counseling. While Ly has a burden to work with all people in need of help and healing, he has a unique passion for issues related to marriage & family, depression, and abuse/trauma, especially within the context of cross-cultures and various ethnic backgrounds.
In the rare times when Ly is not counseling, studying, ministering at his local church, or spending time with family and friends, he enjoys exercising, mountain biking, snowboarding, camping, pretty much anything that involves being outdoors. To unwind and relax, Ly is a huge fan of movies and also finds listening to and playing music to be a great stress reliever.
