I am woman! Hear me yawn…
It seems crazy that once, not long ago, Helen Reddy and her hit song made the now obvious point that women are just as capable as men (duh). Thirty years later, women have it all – including the anxiety, depression, anger, various addictions including alcohol and eating disorders that go along with DOING it all. Being a woman these days is more than a balancing act. It’s more like walking a high wire. Backwards. In heels. While carrying a kid and looking for your car keys.
Have you experienced any of these thoughts:
- How can I have a career and take care of my family?
- Who am I- really?
- What are my needs? And how can I share them with (fill in the blank)?
- What do I think about myself?
- How do I get what I want in a relationship?
- How do I stop losing myself when I get into a relationship?
- Do I have an identity of my own if I am just a mom?
- I hate my body, how can I to accept myself?
- If I’m always taking care of everyone else when will I have a chance to take care of myself?
Any variety of these questions and many more are the issues that women face. In a world where women are trying harder and harder to keep it all together, they are relying on their friends for support less and less.
