Get to know Micah

Dallas therapist Micah Gultery’s expertise centers on working with troubled and afflicted families, couples struggling through relationship adversities, adults, and adolescents who are experiencing life stressors and looking for solutions to complex problems. Micah also specializes in performance issues in sports, academic, work and interpersonal areas,  substance abuse in drug use and alcohol use, addictions in video games, gambling, substance use, and sexual related areas, grief, anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, self-harm, anger management, self-esteem challenges, stress, time-management, adolescent behavioral issues, and other mental health concerns. He also uses a person-centered and supportive family therapy approach, multisystemic family therapy, CBT to find the root issues of present problems, and enhances his trauma-related therapeutic approach with EMDR.

Micah has years of experience working with high-conflict families from all walks of life, and this  – plus his focus on high-risk youth in various community health agencies  – have given him both a heart for this misunderstood population and a unique ability to connect with and work with them and their families.

Micah’s role as a counselor is to be a journeyman with each client's experiences. He is an advocate, encourager, and supporter throughout sessions.

"I want you as my client to experience the same breakthrough I found through my mental health journey to become who I am today. My hope and expectation is that you will find your breakthrough and empowerment to be your truest self,” he says.

Micah earned his BA in Psychology from the University of Texas at Arlington and his Master’s in Clinical Counseling from the University of North Texas at Dallas.

His joy is seeing clients progress throughout sessions to discover themselves and have a positive outlook for their future.

As a part of the Gen Z population, Micah considers himself an ambivert. He enjoys a social life with friends and family at concerts, sporting events and traveling, while keeping a quietness at home in his lifestyle.
